# Changing a user's role and transferring ownership

## How the Owner and administrators change a user's role, what it means for seats, and how the Owner hands over ownership.

### How do I change a user's role?

1. Click your initials at the bottom left, then **Manage organization**.
2. In the **Users** table, click **⋮** in the **Actions** column of the user.
3. Open **Role** and select **Admin**, **Admin · Management only** or **Member**.

### Who can change roles?

The Owner and administrators. An Admin cannot change the role of another administrator.

### What does a role change mean for seats?

- **To Admin · Management only:** the user loses access to Silex features and no longer uses a seat. Your subscription is not reduced: to pay for fewer seats, contact support@silex.legal before your renewal date.
- **From Admin · Management only to Admin or Member:** a free seat is required. If all seats are used, first write to support@silex.legal to add one.

### How do I transfer ownership?

Only the Owner can.

1. Open **Manage organization**.
2. Click **⋮** next to the future Owner.
3. Select **Transfer ownership**.

The person becomes **Owner** and you become **Admin**. You can transfer ownership to any user of the organisation, including an **Admin · Management only**. They then use a paid seat, so a free seat is required: if all seats are used, first write to support@silex.legal to add one.

### How do I delete a user?

Click **⋮** next to the user and select **Delete user**.
