Smart is recommended for any serious analysis.  Speed is the second setting to know. It arbitrates between response time and the depth of the reasoning, and it is set before sending your question. ### What is the difference between Fast and Smart? - Fast — around 30 seconds. Ideal for simple questions and quick checks: confirming an article, situating a notion, roughing out a point before going further. - Smart — up to around 3 minutes. Better granularity and more accomplished reasoning. Recommended as soon as it involves a serious analysis, a client file or a contentious point. ### Which one should I use? Use Fast to verify, Smart to analyse. Thirty seconds to check a point, three minutes to work a case file. If the answer will end up in something you send to a client or file with a court, use Smart. ### Does Smart search more sources than Fast? Smart does not change which source families are consulted — that is governed by your filters. What it changes is the depth and granularity of the reasoning applied to those sources. ### Can I change the speed during a conversation? Yes. Like the mode and the filters, the setting applies from your next message onward. My Smart answer is taking much longer than 3 minutes. Around three minutes is the normal upper range.
