Connect your own SharePoint (Silo Connect)

Two ways to connect your existing SharePoint to Silex: a guided 15-minute call with our team, or a self-serve setup through Microsoft Azure.

If your firm already has a SharePoint, you can connect it to Silex from Connected apps → Connect my SharePoint. Two paths are available, and both are open to every client — there is no plan restriction on which one you choose.

Option 1 — Connection by the Silex team

Book a 15-minute setup call from the in-app calendar. Come to the call with admin access to Microsoft Azure ready, and our team walks you through every step live — app registration, API permissions, site access, client secret — finalising the integration in real time.

Choose this option if your firm does not have Azure expertise in-house. It removes the technical barrier entirely.

Option 2 — Connect yourself

A self-serve flow with in-app instructions. It involves Azure and Microsoft Graph configuration, so it suits an IT-savvy user or administrator. Four steps:

1. Register an application in Microsoft Azure

In Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Portal), register a new application — for example "Silex SharePoint Access". Under Supported account types, select Accounts in any organizational directory. Copy and save the Application (client) ID and the Directory (tenant) ID — you will need them in Step 4.

2. Configure API permissions

In your new app, go to Manage → API permissions. Add a permission via Microsoft Graph → Application permissions, then search for and add Sites.Selected. After adding it, click Grant admin consent to activate the permission. This grants Silex read access to only the specific sites you choose.

3. Give access to the specific SharePoint site

Using Microsoft Graph Explorer, run the following GET request to retrieve your Site ID:
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/sites?search=<your-domain>
If Graph Explorer does not have sufficient permissions, grant the app Sites.FullControl.All temporarily under Modify Permissions to complete this step. Then run a POST request with your Application ID, Directory ID, and the read role to:

https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/sites/{site-id}/permissions

4. Set up a client secret

Go to Manage → Certificates & secrets and create a new client secret. Note that client secrets expire — set a reminder to renew it before the expiry date, as an expired secret will disconnect the integration.

Finally: enter your four values — Application ID, Directory ID, Site ID and Client secret — in the Send us your information form on the Connect SharePoint screen, then click Connect.

What access does Silex actually get?

Silex connects to SharePoint using the Sites.Selected application permission, which means it can only access the specific sites you explicitly grant via the Graph API — never your entire SharePoint tenant. Access is strictly read-only: Silex can read and index your files, but cannot modify, move, or delete them.
