What is Silo?

Silo connects your firm's own documents to Silex, so AI answers cross-reference both your files and Silex's legal database, with full source citations.

Silo is Silex's document knowledge base feature. It lets you bring your firm's own documents into Silex so that AI answers cross-reference both Silex's legal database and your documents, with full source citations for both.

The two ways to use Silo

Connect my SharePoint ("Silo Connect")

For firms that already have a SharePoint. You connect your existing SharePoint to Silex — Silex indexes your documents read-only, with no migration and no local copy. Your documents never leave SharePoint. Every AI answer that cites one of your documents links back to the original SharePoint URL. Note: Silex respects the existing permissions on your SharePoint files. Documents that are restricted in SharePoint will not be surfaced to users who do not have access.

SharePoint storage by Silex

For firms without a SharePoint. Silex provisions a SharePoint environment for you, hosted on the same Swiss-based sovereign cloud infrastructure used by the rest of Silex. You upload your documents directly and they are indexed automatically. Supported file types: PDF, Word (.docx), and PowerPoint (.pptx).

Both options unlock the same core experience: cross-referenced, source-cited answers that combine your firm's documents with Silex's legal content.

Where to find Silo

Go to Connected apps in the sidebar. Under the Silo section, you will see two options: Connect my SharePoint and SharePoint storage by Silex. Select the one that applies to your firm to begin setup.

Can I use both at once?

Yes. Both options can be active at the same time from the Connected Apps page. They share the same storage allowance included in your plan, plus any storage add-ons you have purchased. To view your current storage usage, go to Settings → Plan & billing.
