Working with your documents in the chat

Accepted formats, the roughly 60-page limit per prompt, which mode to use for document analysis, and how confidentiality is handled.

 Which formats can I attach?

Word and PDF, in a readable digital version — the text must be selectable or OCR-compatible. A scan with no text layer cannot be read reliably.

How many pages can I submit in one prompt?

Around 60 pages per prompt — three documents of twenty pages, for example.

What happens if I go beyond that?

You will get an error message and the prompt will not run. For larger volumes, the answer is Silo: connecting your document base to Silex lets you query material well beyond what fits in a single prompt. See the Silo articles, or split your document and run several prompts.

Which mode should I use to analyse an attached document?

Free mode is recommended. It lets you choose the output format freely and target a specific section of the document — for example "Analyse art. 7 of the attached contract" rather than asking for a general review. Targeted questions produce markedly better results than open-ended ones.

Are my documents confidential?

Yes. The information contained in your documents remains confidential and the Silex team does not have access to it. Your documents are never used to train AI models.

What if the file is particularly sensitive?

Two additional layers are available. The Anonymizer agent in the Toolkit returns an anonymised version of the document, which you can then submit in the chat. Incognito mode runs the conversation without storing anything anywhere.

Can Silex read a scanned document?

Only if it has been through OCR and contains selectable text. A photographed or scanned page with no text layer will not be read reliably — run it through OCR first. The silo functionnality accepts scanned documents and pictures.

Silex quoted something that is not in my document.

Check the passage against the original before using it. Two things are worth knowing: the analysis of uploaded documents is the situation where inaccuracies are most likely, and a submitted file often contains a party's arguments rather than established facts, which Silex may reproduce as though they were settled. Flag anything invented through the feedback button. Silex is a decision-support tool. Source verification and final legal responsibility remain with the professional using it.
