Organisations, administrators and seats: how it works
How Silex organisations work: what an administrator can do, how seats are counted, and who can invite new users.
If your firm has more than one Silex user, those users are grouped into an organisation. This article explains the model before the how-to articles that follow.
What is an organisation?
An organisation groups the licences purchased by a firm under a single account. It is what makes it possible to invite colleagues, manage seats centrally and configure single sign-on.
What is an administrator?
The administrator is the person who manages the organisation: they invite and remove users, see how many seats are used and available, and configure SSO. Only the administrator can perform these actions — Silex support cannot add a user to your organisation in the administrator's place.
Does the administrator use up a seat?
Yes. The administrator has a Silex account and therefore holds an active licence. On a plan with five seats, that means the administrator plus four colleagues.
What is a seat, exactly?
A seat is one licence, giving one person access to Silex. Seats are counted per organisation: the administration page shows how many collaborators are attached and how many licences remain available — for example "3 collaborators" with "(2 licences available)".
Do seats and credits work together?
No, they are independent. Credits are consumed by the Toolkit agents and are pooled at organisation level — one shared balance for the whole workspace. Removing a user does not refund or reallocate credits.
Can I change who the administrator is?
Yes, but not from the interface. Write to support@silex.legal indicating your organisation and the person who should become the administrator, and the team will make the change.
Are conversations shared within an organisation?
No. Belonging to the same organisation covers licences and billing, not content. Each user's conversations remain private to their own account. Sharing an answer with a colleague is always an explicit action, through the Share button below the answer.
