What is the Document Anonymizer?
The Document Anonymizer detects and replaces names, dates, addresses, amounts and reference numbers in a legal document with neutral placeholders, while preserving formatting.
What does the Anonymizer do?
The Anonymizer takes a legal document and returns a version in which identifying data has been replaced with neutral placeholders. All personal names, dates, addresses, monetary amounts, reference numbers, and other identifying data are automatically detected and substituted (e.g. [NAME], [DATE], [ADR], [MT], [NUM]) — while preserving the original document's structure and formatting. The output displays a count of every modification made and is ready to copy, download as DOCX, or download as PDF. The Anonymizer prepares the anonymized version; the legal professional remains responsible for reviewing and validating the result before any external use.

What types of data does the Anonymizer detect?
The Anonymizer detects and replaces personal names, dates, addresses, monetary amounts, registration and reference numbers, and other identifying data typically found in legal documents. Legal text, case law references, and article citations are preserved as-is.
Does the Anonymizer work in French, German, Italian, and English?
Yes. The Silex platform and the Anonymizer support all four languages. Performance is optimized for legal terminology across French, German, Italian, and English documents.
The result missed some sensitive information. What should I do?
AI-based anonymization is highly accurate but not infallible. Always review the output before sharing externally. If the agent consistently misses a specific type of data, report it using the in-app feedback tool or contact support@silex.legal — this helps the team improve accuracy.
Some replacements look incorrect or context was altered. What happened?
In complex documents with ambiguous language, the Anonymizer may occasionally over-anonymize or replace a term that was not sensitive. Download the DOCX file, locate the flagged replacements, and restore the original terms manually. Report the issue via the in-app feedback tool or contact support@silex.legal.
The result shows "0 modifications done". Is that normal?
If your document contained no detectable personal data or identifiers, the agent may return zero modifications. This can also happen if the document's text layer is not properly readable. Check that your DOCX file contains real, selectable text (OCR) and retry.
