Invitation problems: "this user already belongs to an organisation"

Why an invitation fails when the person already has a Silex account, and how the team migrates that account into your organisation.

I am inviting a colleague and I get a message saying the user already belongs to an organisation.

That message means the person already has a Silex account of their own — created for a trial or an individual subscription, for example. An account that already exists cannot be attached to an organisation from the interface. This is expected behaviour, not a bug: the migration is done manually by the Silex team.

How do I get it resolved?

Write to support@silex.legal with the exact email address of the existing account and the organisation it should join. The team performs the migration, after which the person appears among your collaborators and uses one of your licences.

Can my colleague join the organisation themselves instead?

No. There is no way for an existing account to attach itself to an organisation. It always goes through the Silex team.

My colleague has no Silex account at all. What then?

Then nothing is needed on the Silex side: invite them from Manage my organisation and they create their account directly from that invitation.

I invited someone with no existing account and the invitation never arrived.

That is a different situation and it should not happen. Ask them to check their spam folder first, then delete the invitation and send it again. If the second invitation does not arrive either, contact support@silex.legal — this one needs investigating.

Will my colleague lose their existing conversations in the migration?

No, he won't lose any conversations
