Troubleshooting Silo connection and sync errors

Solutions for the most common Silo errors: mail mismatch, unreadable files, storage full, Azure connection failures and expired client secrets.

"Silex/SharePoint email mismatch"

Your SharePoint files cannot be retrieved because the email address registered on Silex does not match the one on your SharePoint account.

To fix this, click Change email in the error dialog to update either address so they match, then retry the connection.

"Unreadable files"

These are files that are empty, corrupted, or otherwise unreadable during indexing. The Unreadable files screen lists each affected file path and offers a Retry Synchronization button.

If retrying does not resolve it, the file most likely needs to be repaired or re-saved directly in SharePoint.

Can Silex support fix unreadable files for me?
Our team can help you troubleshoot and retry. However, because the underlying issue exists in your SharePoint, the file may ultimately need to be repaired or re-uploaded there. For hands-on assistance, email support@silex.legal or book a call from the Connected Apps space.

"SharePoint synchronization stopped — storage is full"

You have reached your plan's storage limit. Two options:

  • Click Buy extra storage to add 10 GB blocks at CHF 5 per month each
  • Free up space by removing indexed files you no longer need

Synchronisation resumes automatically once you have enough space.

"Failed to connect to the Azure server. Please verify your connection."

This usually points to an issue with the Azure app configuration, or a network problem during the self-serve connect flow.

Check that your Application ID, Directory ID, Site ID and Client secret were entered correctly, and that the client secret has not expired. If the error persists, book a 15-minute setup call so our team can complete the connection with you, or contact support@silex.legal.

"Not included in your plan, need the storage add-on"

This message means that the connector you are trying to use — such as SharePoint — requires the storage add-on to be activated, separately from your plan's base storage allocation. To resolve this, purchase the storage add-on from your plan settings to unlock the integration.

My client secret expired and the connection stopped working

Client secrets in Microsoft Azure have an expiry period and need periodic renewal.

To renew it: go to Manage → Certificates & secrets in your Azure app, generate a new Client Secret, then update the value in Silex under Connected Apps → your SharePoint connection settings.
