What is the Document Translator?

The Document Translator turns a legal document into a fully translated version in French, German, Italian or English, with structure preserved and optional terminology notes.

What does the Document Translator do?

The Document Translator takes a legal document and returns a fully translated version in your chosen target language, preserving the original structure and formatting. It is specifically tailored for Swiss legal requirements and handles the nuances of legal terminology across French, German, Italian, and English.

Each translation job produces two outputs:

  • The translated document, ready to copy, download as DOCX, or download as PDF.
  • An optional Terminology notes tab, which lists key legal terms alongside their translations and contextual explanations.

The Document Translator prepares a translation for professional review. It does not produce a certified or sworn translation, and the output should be validated by a qualified legal professional before use in formal proceedings or external submissions.

Is the translation legally reliable?

The Translator is specifically optimized for Swiss legal terminology and produces high-quality translations across French, German, Italian and English. However, as with any AI-assisted tool, the output should be reviewed before use in formal proceedings, filings, or external sharing. The Terminology notes are designed to flag choices that may require human review.

What are the Terminology notes?

The Terminology notes tab is a glossary of key legal terms from your document. Each entry includes three fields:

  • The original term.
  • The translated term.
  • A note explaining the translation choice, including jurisdictional nuances (for example, the difference between "Claimant" and "Plaintiff").

Can the Translator handle documents that mix multiple languages?

The Translator works best with documents written in a single source language. For mixed-language documents, the agent translates based on the selected source language, but passages written in a different language may not be translated accurately. For best results, split the document by language section and run a separate translation job for each language.
